I can’t image the worry, questions and anxiety that was running through your mind leading up to the day. Thank YOU for sharing your story and for being a resource and inspiring to so many!
I enjoyed reading part 2. I love that you also have very vivid memories of that day and remember sweet things that nurses did for you and said to you; I can also remember clear as day some of the sweetest and most calming words that my surgeon said to me as she sat at my bedside and held my hand.
love this part for you - “telling my story had a real life consequence, a real life friendship.”
No worries! As long as you saw it. I can try to recreate it or if it came to your email, you can forward it to my email and I’ll repost, but it was mainly meant for you.
Good idea! I will reshare because I love what you said about your nurse, your sister and the "tornado"
From Nancy: "Thank you so much for sharing! I love that your nurse had the same name as you! They are angels. I even bought this necklace with my nurse’s first letter and tiny gold wings as a gift for her. She says she wears it every day. I feel like I would have been a complete basket case without her. I do know that feeling of relief and peace right after the surgery. Before surgery, I felt like I had a tornado inside me and I didn’t know where it would land. I just wanted it out!! Also, recovery was fun and wonderful because of my sister. Bridgerton was just released. Perfect timing!! Your story brings up so many memories and is so similar to mine! We just have to hold onto those little happy glimmers because we’ve made it possible to be healthy and strong for a long time. So being unhappy is not an option! Hugs again to you! We do need those too!!"
That’s so sweet Nancy!! I love that you got your nurse a beautiful necklace - I sent mine a than you note and a Starbucks gift card but man, a necklace sure beats that!! I love that you also had the best time in your recovery because of your sister, I will eventually write a whole post on how my sister helped in my recovery too! We have never laughed harder and she took such good care of me. I also love that you said there was a tornado inside of you and after surgery it settled. That is exactly how I felt! Thank you for sharing and for so thoughtfully commenting!!
I love this. Now rethinking the day of my mastectomy as a good day <3
Thank you Jean! I hope in some ways, it was!

It is something you can only understand if you went through it. Yay for beautiful sisters! I can’t wait to hear more about yours! ❤️❤️
Oh my gosh Nancy, I’m sorry I accidentally deleted your comment when I went to delete my typo! I am 100 with fat fingers 😩
